This doesn’t happen very often- but it’s always SO much more fun when celebs wear clothes that are affordable and accessible to the common person!
Many, many thanks must be given to LA-based artist and pop culture icon KESH for collaborating with American Apparel in what is one of the most eye-catching, creative and innovative collections to hit stores in a while!
According to American Apparel, “KESH uses bold lines and shapes to clarify imagery into playful yet powerful minimalist graphics, producing an instantly recognizable aesthetic that has garnered popular and critical acclaim.” Well you can say that again! Wiz Khalifa, 2NE1, Azealia Banks, and Theophilus London have all been spotting rocking these limited edition pieces and so can you!
Ladies- you can snag the Spandex Sleeveless Crop Top or the Sublimation Nylon Tricot Triangle Bikini Top for only $35! And guys- the Unisex Cap is only $38. Sprint to your nearest American Apparel store and dress like your favorite music artists without butchering your bank account!
There’s a lot more music festivals for the remainder of the summer…just saying!
Is the KESH x American Apparel collection catching your eye or could you totally do without?
Let me know what you think!
Until next time-
Mike Pop has his personal recap of Governors Ball for this week’s MCU Indie Rock post!
Governors Ball 2013: Mud And Music Fest
This past weekend, Randall’s Island in New York was the destination for the third annual Governors Ball Music Festival. The event is the reigning king of festivals in the tri-state area, and despite Friday’s torrential downpours and the acres of mud that formed as a result, bands and music fans from across the country came out in the thousands to party hard. The weekend had its fair share of awesome headliners (Kings of Leon, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Kanye West, etc.), but let’s talk about the acts on the undercard. On the indie side of the festivities, bands like Wild Nothing, F***ed Up, Grizzly Bear, Cold War Kids, Bloc Party and more treated hoards of people to amazing sets. Travelling from one stage to another to catch full shows was not easy (and I can tell you from experience), but the park was stacked with plenty of rest stops along the way: delicious food trucks, thirst-quenching drink tents, merch stands, and other attractions. This blogger is still feeling the effects of sunburn and lack of sleep, but saying, “you just had to be there,” is an understatement. It had a subgenre of music for everyone, from melodic hardcore to witchhouse, from indie hip-hop to math rock. This weekend proved the Ball’s prowess, and it’s sure to stick around for many more summers. Until next time, indie-minded friends…
Happy Fashion Friday ladies and gentlemen!
From Punk: Chaos to Couture to clothing line debuts, the past week has been anything but boring! First things first, we NEED to talk about the MET gala that took place last weekend! With the theme of Chaos to Couture, anybody whose anybody was in attendance showcasing their most classy and wild punk couture. My favorite looks were from Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Beyonce! Total fashion NO-NOs were Nicole Richie, Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian (sorry). Beyonce’s outfit didn’t scream chaos or punk at all, but it sure yelled couture with everything from her gloves to her custom Givenchy matching print gown and boots. WHAT CAN’T THIS WOMAN DO? She just released a new Beyonce.com shop and her sun kissed ads have taken over all H&M stores with the Mrs. Carter Summer Collection that’s available…NOW! The pieces in her collection are extremely cute and affordable, so if you’re looking for the right bikini or sundress- run to your nearest H&M store!
Knock, knock…whose there? Nicki Minaj. Nicki Minaj who? Nicki Minaj’s Clothing Line for K-Mart and ShopYourWay! Um…YES!!! Minaj was nice enough to tweet a couple snapshots of pieces from her line and they couldn’t be more on point and perfect for the summer! It’s full of leather bustiers, high waisted skirts, loud printed tights, bedazzled caps, along with so much more. With price points that surely won’t hurt your wallet, be prepared for the world to be infested with Barbies everywhere!
Are you dying to get your hands on pieces from Beyonce and Nicki’s clothing lines? I know I am!
Which line is your fav? Tweet me and let me know!
Until next time-
