Just a Reflection, Of a Reflection, Of a Reflection…

At long last, new music from the Grammy (Album of the Year, 2011) award-winning Montreal collective Arcade Fire has surfaced. After a drawn-out promotion campaign, which involved mysterious street art popping up in major cities around the world, Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, and company have come clean about the band’s objective. A new album (their fourth), Reflektor, has been announced for an October 28th release. The group wanted to keep most of the details a secret, only to release a single, the near 8-minute long title track, on September 9th, at 9 PM across every time zone in the world (dubbed, the “9PM 9-9” launch). Sadly, the surprise was spoiled, as “unofficial” digital copies flooded the internet via Tumblrs and file sharing sites, and not one, but two videos shortly following; one interactive, and the other an eerie Peter Gabriel-esque black and white clip. Now, Arcade Fire fans are learning even more about the album: It will be a double-LP, produced by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, and will feature guest vocals by the legendary David Bowie. We’ve even got a clear picture of the cover art, inspired by a 19th century French sculpture. Butler told SPIN Magazine that the music on the album will be, “[a] mashup of Studio 54 and Haitian voodoo.” So there’s that. Anyhow, Music Choice has the disco-leaning lead single, and we’re thrilled to be playing it. Make sure to check it out on our Alternative and MCU audio channels. We’ll keep you posted with any more information on this incredibly buzz-worthy album release. Until next time, indie-minded friends…

The HARD SUMMER FESTIVAL will takes place at Los Angeles State Historic Park and we are loving the teaser! Dates are scheduled for August 3-4 and the lineup will include SKRILLEX, BLOC PARTY, VAMPIRE WEEKEND, JAMES MURPHY & more!
