Governors Ball 2014 Line-Up Announced
It’s like clockwork and then it’s like dominos. Every year around this time, one of the major outdoor music festivals reveals its lineup for their big summer blowout. It’s usually Coachella. And once that list hits the internet, all the others across the country begin their giant unveiling. For us on the east coast, it was only a matter of time before the typically wet Governors Ball (on New York’s Randall’s Island) broke their roster news. I had enough funds to enjoy/survive the entire three-day weekend last year, and it was one of the best I’ve ever experienced. It was in my backyard, basically– plus getting to and from the island was convenient with the ferries and all. I liked knowing I didn’t have to camp out/be without a shower for days at a time. Last year had its share of great headliners and supporting acts: The xx, Kendrick Lamar, The Lumineers, Kings of Leon, Guns N’ Roses (!), and Kanye West. This time around, the recently reunited OutKast will make a stop on their over 40-festival headlining tour to be the grand finale Sunday night. The other big names are Jack White, Vampire Weekend, The Strokes, Phoenix, Disclosure, and Foster The People. But for me, I’m sold on one band that hasn’t recorded or toured in what feels like ages: Interpol. Only I wasn’t exactly “sold”, because I failed to get my three-day pass yet. That being said, anyone reading this who wants to be my friend and hook me up (wink-wink), I’d greatly appreciate it and love you forever. The festival runs from June 6-8.
