Who has the best #coachella look?? #fashion #picoftheday #musicfest #coachella13
Coachella, Coachella….COACHELLA! Doesn’t it seem like there’s a music festival every weekend? Well that’s most likely because Coachella runs two consecutive weekends so it’s been the topic of everyone’s conversation the past week!
I know there’s probably a million questions running through your head like- What will Vanessa Hudgens wear next? Is that really Solange with Earl Sweathshirt? And the last person we thought we’d see at Coachella (aka today’s Woodstock) is Kelly Rowland!!! Oh yeah- and Clint Eastwood.
This annual music and arts festival in Indio, California kicked off last weekend with stellar performances by the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, The Postal Service and Phoenix.
Of course music is a HUGE part of the festival experience, but we all know it’s the fashion that really counts. ;) The hippie look has always been a festival fav along with bohemian chic, but this year we saw looks from all over the style spectrum.
MC fav Rita Ora went for a total out of the box retro look with a Jeremy Scott t-shirt, school girl JW Anderson pleated skirt matched with black Converse. Okay. I feel like this outfit is all over the place, but this girl can pull off anything!
A special thanks to Katy Perry for- 1. Making bustiers cool again 2. Being awesome 3. Totally working this Dolce & Gabbana floral bustier! We know Selena Gomez wore the same top to the Spring Breakers premiere, but I’m completely Team Perry on this one.
My favorite outfit of the festival thus far is from Solange. Her Alice + Olivia dress is playful, bright and down right refreshing! She stood out amongst the crowds of Coachella-goers while staying true to her electric fashion sense…get it girl!
What’s your favorite celeb look from weekend 1 of Coachella?
Alright fashionistas. That’s it for me…until next time!
Introducing a new weekly MCU Indie Music post brought to you by MC’s very own Mike P!
In case you missed last weekend’s 14th annual Coachella Music and Arts Festival in sunny, Indio, California due to lack of funds or a weak internet connection – fear not! This year, the festival is being held on back-to-back weekends. Every band, singer, or funny person will go for round two starting tomorrow afternoon. But even if this weekend is a repeat of last week’s, we’re still very excited. On the indie side of the line-up, bands from across the globe made their way to both the main and small stages of the festival to rock the ecstatic and likely sunburned music diehards.
Some of the highlights: San Francisco’s reigning garage rock champion Ty Segall joined fellow Bay Area indie veterans Thee Oh Sees for a psyched-out jam session. Philadelphia’s Kurt Vile (after playfully bashing The Gaslight Anthem) serenaded his audience with deep cuts from his critically-acclaimed new LP, Wakin On A Pretty Day. New York City’s Yeah Yeah Yeahs treated a capacitating crowd to a set featuring some of their most beloved tracks, as well as newbies from their latest release, Mosquito. And how about those epic reunions? Blur, New Order, The Stone Roses, The Postal Service, and more. It was quite an eventful weekend for indie music, and it all starts up again tomorrow, so be sure to check out the live stream on the festival’s website. Until next Thursday, indie-minded friends…

FIONA APPLE has released her first studio-recorded single from her upcoming album. We wonder if there has ever been an album with a longer title. It’s going to be called, The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do. The single is called, Every Single Night, and has been heard by all attendees of Coachella.
